Sorting of cartons with the
VISION EXPERT 4000 CARTON
High quality demands are placed upon cartons for various reasons:
- Folded boxes for pharmaceutical packaging are subjected to the most stringent of regulations as regards text accuracy
- Folded boxes for cosmetics and other high-priced products should represent the perceived value of the contents
- Only high quality cartons have traditionally been acceptable for tobacco products
Quality standards are different depending on the type of folded box, but are always high and ever-increasing. Printing flaws and other flaws can be prevented using 100% reliable inspection methods and, for best results, with 100% inspections instead of monitoring of random samples.
The VISION EXPERT 4000 CARTON inspection system has appropriate capabilities for precision printed material inspection of text, colour, finishing and stamping so as to guarantee defined quality criteria.
It is not the purpose of folded box sorting to re-check the quality of the full production run at the end of the production process. A fundamental aspect of quality assurance is that quality must be produced. There are two reasons which favour 100% sorting:
1. Japanese quality
Certain products have such high quality criteria that they cannot be satisfied as part of standard techniques. One buzzword here is Japanese quality – in which minor material defects not caused in the production process of printing and finishing are excluded.
2. Blocked batches
Batches are blocked if not all production steps have run through reliably and with absolute certainty. A new machine part, new employees or poor quality random samples can result in a block. Before blocked batches need to undergo reproduction, it can be cost-effective to sort by defined quality criteria. In many cases, there are enough “good” cartons to be able to avert an expensive reproduction run.
Small inclusions in the carton, punching remnants, all kinds of printing flaws, registering accuracy of finishing, colour consistency, splatters, shades, completeness of metal foils, etc., are reliably detected and used as exclusion criteria.
Performance details:
The VISION EXPERT 4000 CARTON inspection system is used with the Mabeg Blank Inspector (MBP) from our partner Mabeg Systems GmbH.
The Mabeg Blank Inspector is available as a line for one-up sorting of folded box cut-outs and also for the inspection and sorting of complete sheets.
Your benefits:
- Guaranteed to meet defined quality criteria
- Avoidance of manual sorting
- Constant quality at set dates
- No complaints

The Vision Expert 4000 CARTON can be optionally integrated into web presses (in figure on left) and in offline sheet inspection systems (in figure on right).
